Why this music interests us

Tarkiainen's two wind quintets provide particularly promising repertoire for Resonance. The Way There... (2009) unfolds in four short movements, each foregrounding a different instrument, while Siimes (2017) evokes a concealed place within a forest and draws material from her saxophone concerto Saivo. Both works invite further listening and score study before performance decisions are made.
