Erberk Eryılmaz is a Turkish-born composer, pianist and conductor whose work draws on Anatolian and other regional musical traditions in contemporary concert settings. His catalogue encompasses chamber, orchestral and ensemble music, with a particular interest in rhythmic vitality, dance and instrumental colour. Why this music interests us

Eryılmaz's music brings the rhythmic energy and instrumental colours of Anatolian traditions into a contemporary chamber setting. Rakı Havası is a particularly appealing point of entry, with its dance-inflected character and lively interplay between instruments. For Resonance, this is music that can illuminate the relationship between regional musical identities and the expressive possibilities of a modern concert ensemble.
